A general services package contains certain features free of charge.  Blast Connect subscription services allow users to take advantage of all the premium features of the sensor to take training to the next level. 

Free Services 

Blast Applications combines sensor-based swing metrics with auto-edited video clips in an easy-to-use mobile app. Get real-time feedback with a solution designed to help you train smarter and perform better.  The free services provide you with basic impact metrics (see metrics) and the ability to video record your swings. Additionally, free training videos are featured in our training center.  This package includes everything you need to train smarter and get better. 

Premium

With a Blast Connect subscription, you receive access to a cloud-based, customizable on-line and mobile information management application. Organize, analyze, store and communicate with your team or coaches at anytime from anywhere.  Unlock advanced Metrics and Training Insights to enhance your training. The Premium Services subscription takes player, parent, and coach training to the next level with advanced reporting, roster management, video analysis, and more. (Requires a Swing Analyzer)

Metrics

Blast metrics are divided into four different types.  The free metrics are the Impact Metrics.  The premium metrics are Swing Metrics, Ball Flight, and Swing Quality Scores that require a coach or player Premium Services subscription to Blast Connect. 

Impact Metrics (Free)

The Blast Sensor captures impact metrics that measure pre-impact performance outcomes based on ball contact. 

• Bat Speed - The total speed of the barrel at impact. MLB avg. = 70.3 mph 
• Attack Angle - The angle that the barrel approaches the ball at impact. MLB avg. = 8 degrees 
• Vertical Bat Angle - The steepness of barrel at impact from a catcher’s perspective. 
• Time to Contact - The time measured from the start of the downswing to impact. MLB avg. = 0.14 sec. 
• Peak Hand Speed - The fastest hand speed reached throughout the swing. 
• Power - Bat mass X avg. acceleration X bat speed at impact. 

Swing Quality Scores (Premium)

Blast iQ assesses your swing and impact metrics, based on level of play, to automatically score your performance. 

• Plane - Scores you’re On-Plane Efficiency for each swing on the scouting scale of 20-80. 
• Connection - Scores how connected your swing is by incorporating your Early Connection and Connection (at impact) on the scouting scale of 20-80. 
• Rotation - Scores your Rotational Acceleration for each swing, on the scouting scale of 20-80. 

Swing Metrics (Premium)

The Blast Sensor captures swing metrics that measure pre-impact swing mechanics centered around the plane, connection, and rotation. 

• On Plane Efficiency - Measures the percentage of your swing where the bat is on the swing plane. MLB avg. = 73%
• Rotational Acceleration - Measures how quickly your bat accelerates into the swing plane. MLB avg. = 17 G’s 
• Early Connection - Measures the relationship between your body tilt and vertical bat angle when the hitter initiates rotation. MLB avg. = 92 degrees 
• Connection (at impact) - Measures the relationship between your body tilt and vertical bat angle at impact. MLB avg. = 81 degrees 

Ball Fight (Premium)

Blast iQ powered machine vision measures the post-impact results of your swing, allowing you to visualize ball flight. 

• Exit Velocity – Speed of the baseball as it comes off the bat, immediately after impact. 
• Launch Angle – Vertical angle at which the ball leaves the bat after impact. 
• Distance – Estimated ball flight distance, measured in feet.

Blast Connect: Getting Started

Player/Parent 

There are multiple options for signing up for the premium services of Blast Connect. There are three different ways to sign up for the services as a player.  

App Sign up

• In the Blast App.
• Tap on the menu (Hamburger Button).
• Tap Profile/silhouette (Circle Icon).
• Tap Account tab.
• Account Type – make sure to set to your choice (Player).
• Tap on the Upgrade button.
• Tap on Learn more.
• Fill out the form. 

Web Sign up – Player

1. Click the link for Blast Baseball registration (https://baseball-academy.blastconnect.com/register). Blast Softball registration (https://softball-academy.blastconnect.com/register).
2. Fill out the Create a Blast Account form:

• First Name
• Last Name
• Email
• Password 
• Confirm Password
• Tap on Terms of Service

• Tap on the continue button.
• Select on Blast Connect Subscription.
• Fill in the Credit Card fields and tap on purchase.

6. Fill out (Optional) fields:

• Tap on Upload Button, add an avatar.
• Tap on the timezone line update.
• Add Primary Positions.

• Tap on the Complete button.

Academy Invite Received

1. Open invite email to join a Blast Connect Academy.
2. Tap on the Accept Invitation button.
3. Blast Connect online site will open.
4. Type in the Blast Account Password from the invite email.
5. Tap on the continue button.
6. Fill out the online form option of Add an avatar, Set Your Time zone, and Primary Position (Optional).
7. Tap on Complete.

Coach 

There are multiple options for signing up for the premium services of Blast Connect. There are three different ways to sign up for the services as a Coach.

2. Fill out the Create a Blast Account form:

• Name
• Sub Domain
• Logo (Optional)
• Phone

• Tap on one of these options:
  • Already have a Blast Account.
    • Fill out the Create a Blast Account form:
      • Email
      • Password
      • Tap on Terms of Service
    • Tap on Login to Continue.
  • Don’t have a Blast Account?
    • Fill out the Create a Blast Account form:
      • First Name
      • Last Name
      • Email
      • Password
      • Confirm Password
      • Tap on Term of services
    • Tap on Create account. 
• Fill in Payment Details of Cardholder Name, Card Number, CVS Security Code, and Expires.
• Tap on subscribing to Blast Connect. 

Academy Invite Received

1. Open invite email to join a Blast Connect Academy.
2. Tap on the Accept Invitation button.
3. Blast Connect online site will open.
4. Type in the Blast Account Password from the invite email.
5. Tap on the continue button.
6. Fill out the online form option of Add an avatar, Set Your Time zone, and Primary Position (Optional).
7. Tap on Complete.

Academy Invite: Bulk Upload

1. Tap on the Team Management button on the top right.
2. Tap on the plus sign and select “Invite Members.”
3. Tap on the Bulk Upload tab.
4. Tap on Let’s Go button.
5. Find the forms for Players, Coaches, or Admin Coaches that you want to invite.
6. Fill out form fields:

• Player: First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, Member Type, Level of Play, Coach, Blast Connect, Add-Ons, Who’s Paying, Password, Sensor Name, Sensor Serial Number, Sensor Location, Equipment Name, Equipment Length, and Equipment Weight.
• Coach: First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, Member Type, Level of Play, Add-Ons, Who’s Paying, Password, Sensor Name, Sensor Serial Number, Sensor Location, Equipment Name, Equipment Length, and Equipment Weight.
• Admin Coaches: First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, Member Type, Level of Play, Add-Ons, Who’s Paying, Password, Sensor Name, Sensor Serial Number, Sensor Location, Equipment Name, Equipment Length, and Equipment Weight.
• Tap the Invite Members.
• Global Settings: Default setting change for all players for Who’s Paying and Password.
• Default Student Settings: Default setting change for all players for Coach, Blast Connect, Add-Ons, Who’s Paying, Coach, Password, Level of Play, Equipment Name, Equipment Length, and Equipment Weight.

Academy Invite: Social Share

1. Tap on the Team Management button on the top right.
2. Tap on the plus sign and select “Invite Members.”
3. Tap on the Social Share tab.
4. Copy the URL to Invite Players by Email or Social Media.
